Walkers, runners and cyclists on sponsored journey to Canterbury Cathedral
The Dean of Canterbury, the Very Revd Dr Robert Willis, and the Cathedral congregation welcomed walkers, cyclists and runners from St Alphege Seasalter after the Sung Eucharist on Sunday 24thFebruary 2013. The brave pilgrims, who came through snow and freezing cold from Whitstable to Canterbury, were raising money towards a new etched screen for their church at St Alphege, Seasalter, which will depict the life and martyrdom of St Alphege, an Archbishop of Canterbury who was murdered in 1012 by Vikings. St Alphege is buried in the Cathedral, on the north side of the High Altar.
For further information, please contact the vicar of St Alphege, Seasalter, the Revd Rachel Webbley, on 07743 387546, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Images of the proposed screen may be seen at http://www.stalphege.org.uk/index.html
